Theories and techniques in machine learning plays a crucial role in modern data science applications. Such techniques include various classification and regression models, clustering, dimension reduction, reinforcement learning, and deep learning. Understanding of the big picture of machine learning problems and available techniques is critical in properly utilizing them for one’s own problem. The goal of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge of machine learning and intuitions behind them as well as their proper applications to real-world problems.
In this course, we specifically cover basic principles in machine learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and interactive visualization for data science, which covers widely-used techniques in machine learning.
We remark that this course assumes the student’s basic knowledge in the mathematical background for data science and machine learning, such as linear algebra, probability, statistics, multivariable calculus, and so on.
