This course is composed of four units. The first unit explores the origins of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) from the colonial era to the 1960s. The second unit addresses the power structure, political system, and military of North Korea in order to determine the key features that characterize the contemporary DPRK. The third unit introduces the social aspects of North Korea, in particular its class system and its effects on the everyday lives and economic situation of the population. The fourth unit looks at the DPRK’s interactions with the world from various perspectives, allowing students to develop a range of approaches in which to study North Korea especially in relation to South Korea and the international system.
본 강좌는 아래와 같이 네 개의 유닛으로 구성되어 있습니다.
1. 일제 통치기에서 1960년대까지 조선민주주의인민공화국(북한)의 기원을 탐구합니다.
2. 북한의 권력구조, 군사 및 정치체제를 설명합니다.
3. 북한의 사회적인 측면(일상생활 및 경제)를 설명합니다.
4. 북한과 국제사회의 연관성을 탐구할 수 있도록 다양한 관점에서 북한과 세계의 상호작용을 설명합니다.
This class explores various aspects of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (i.e., North Korea), providing students with an introduction of the country’s history, leadership, politics, society, and culture.
본 강좌를 통해 북한의 역사, 리더십, 정치, 사회, 문화의 특성 등 다양한 측면을 탐구하여, 북한에 대한 이해도를 증진시킬 수 있습니다.
Students should achieve over 60 score in total. Evaluation consists of Quizzes 30%, and Writing Assignment 70%.
본 강좌의 이수증 발급기준은 60점 이상이며, 아래와 같은 과제를 통과하여야 합니다.

- 4회 (주제별)로 제시되는 쓰기과제: 70%
